Steps to Help You Achieve Balance
- Present -- be in the present moment. When you add the weight of yesterday's regrets to your fears about tomorrow, it become too much to handle. We have enough strength for each day -- one at a time.
- People -- connect with other people. Connection with people who care about us is one of the best things for helping to ground us and create balance in our lives.
- Purpose -- be passionate about making a difference! Redirect your emotional energy into making the world a better place. Few things are as stimulating and focusing as a sense of purpose. Helping others also helps you keep your problems in perspective.
- Play -- take time for recreation. This is the time when we refill our empty tank and get the energy to keeping heading toward our goals. Play, especially exercise, is great for stimulating the brain and reducing stress in the body.
- Prayer -- whether you pray to God as you understand Him or petition others for help, reaching outside yourself can put you in connection with a valuable source of strength and aid.
- Praise -- practice looking for things about which you are grateful. It encourages positive thinking and keeps your problems from looming larger and larger. Be sure and praise yourself and others for the small improvements too!
